Arctic Monkeys dominate NME shortlist
The group has been nominated in the Best British Band, Best Live Band, Best Album, Best Track, Best Video and Best Video Album Artwork categories.
Lead singer Alex Turner has also been shortlisted for the Best Dressed award.
NME music magazine said the nominations, which are selected by public vote, made the group the most voted-for band of the decade.
Arctic Monkeys guitarist Jamie Cook said: "It's sound the readers keep voting for us."
"Live would be good - it's good to have been picked up in that because we put a lot of effort into our live work last year, I thought we got a lot better."
Klaxons have been nominated in four NME categories, contesting Best British Band, Best Album, Best Video and Best Dance Floor Filler.
Contesting the Best British Band category alongside the Arctic Monkeys and Klaxons are Babyshambles, The Cribs and Muse.
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has also been nominated for four awards - Villain of the Year, Worst Dressed, Best Music DVD and Best Solo Artist.
Winehouse faces competition from Kate Nash, Jamie T, Jack Penate and Patrick Wolf in the Best Solo Artist category.
Nominated in the Best International Band category are Arcade Fire, Foo Fighters, the Killers, Kings of Leon and My Chemical Romance.
The nominations for Best Album are 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' by Arctic Monkeys, 'Shotters Nation' by Babyshambles, 'We'll Live and Die in These Towns' by The Enemy, 'Myths of the Near Future' by Klaxons and 'In Rainbows' by Radiohead.

As Mood II Swing, production twosome Lem Springsteen and John Ciafone became one of the most in demand remixers in the late '90s. The duo's production calling began modestly, however. After a failed endeavor at R&B, the deuce turned to house music. Early productions such as Sylvano's "Helpless" and Wall of Sound's "Vital" were a step in the right direction, as were releases such as "I Need a Bitch" for Cutting and "Searchin'" for Groove On, just it was the duo's remixes of Ultra Naté's "Release" for Strictly Rhythm that struck au. The strain became a immense polish off and presently Mood II Swing was remixing big-name producers like BT ("Remember") and King Britt ("The Reason") as advantageously as the next Ultra Naté single, "Plant a Cure," which also became a immense polish off record around the humanity. Then, as a testament to the duo's success, the New York-based Nervous label dug up some old, forgotten productions by the duet and released them as Mood II Swing's Nervous Tracks.
American Idol star Broadway-bound?
MTV News reports that Hernandez auditioned for the role of Roger, a HIV-positive musician and former drug addict.
The producers were reportedly impressed with Hernandez's voice, but felt that he was not right for a lead role, given his lack of theatre experience.
However they are considering casting him in a smaller role, and will make a decision within the next few weeks.

Amy Winehouse - Winehouse Is Recording Bond Track
Troubled singer AMY WINEHOUSE is working on a theme song for the forthcoming JAMES BOND film, according to super producer MARK RONSON.
Last month (Mar08) the Back To Black star's spokesman refuted claims she was secretly writing the title track for the movie.
But Ronson insists the pair has recorded a song and hopes it will be used for the upcoming blockbuster, Quantum Of Solace.
He says, "They asked Amy, and I think Amy said that if she did it, she'd want to do it with me. So hopefully something will come of it.
"The demo sounds like a James Bond theme, hopefully. But I don't know if it'll get used."
"I'm sure there are loads more really famous people that probably we're competing with and we don't know about. But hopefully I'll still be alive for at least 12 more Bond themes. If we don't get this one maybe we'll get another one."

Gavin Rossdale's new album 'Wanderlust' a hit-or-miss effort
Gavin Rossdale made a pretty big splash with his music before becoming the envy of men everywhere with his marriage to ultimate rock girl Gwen Stefani.
The former frontman for Bush, whose 1994 debut "Sixteen Stone" was one of the more popular discs of the 90's, returns with his first solo outing, "Wanderlust," and the result is a decidedly mixed bag.
While his raspy voice and soaring choruses echo his finer '90s moments, Rossdale settles for overly slick production and the result makes the disc quite derivative (maybe we can blame that on mercenary producer Bob Rock, who somehow managed to make even Metallica sound too slick).
"Wanderlust" succeeds in its simpler moments. Disc opener "Can't Stop The World" is a melodic rocker with a knockout chorus and lead single "Love Remains The Same" is a lush ballad that works well with Rossdale's rasp, as do dynamic tracks like the escapist "Drive" and the electro-charged doom of "Future World."
Where the frustration sets in is on tracks like the muddy "This is Happiness," which is just plain sloppy but contains one of the catchiest choruses on the disc. And there's the rub: each song does boast a moment where you take notice before it retreats into dry repetition.
I won't even get into it with "Another Night In The Hills" - which lyrically seems a bit beneath Rossdale's typical stream-of-consciousness style: "She likes her cocaine/right on the membranes/She's one to give favours/to the movers and shakers."
Gavin Rossdale offers a respectable effort but rests on his laurels a bit too much on "Wanderlust."
Check out this track: Emotive disc closer "Beauty in the Beast" showcases a very welcome introspective side to Rossdale's persona.
